Sherwin-Williams Co. invites a co-op student to join the R&D Performance Coatings Group Innovation team for a 6-month program starting January 2027, onsite at the Morikis Global Technology Center in Brecksville, OH.

The role focuses on leading innovation projects across business unit color needs, under a mentor, and with exposure to real-world ML-driven optimization tasks. Ideal candidates are pursuing a STEM degree, have programming experience (Python/C++), GUI development skills, and

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Computer Science, Chemistry, Color Science, Physics, or Engineering.
Willing to work up to 40 hours per week for 6 months.
Minimum GPA 2.8.
Programming experience in Python or C++.
Experience building graphical user interfaces.
Experience in modular programming.
Experience working with machine learning models.

Responsibilities

Create a graphical user interface to machine learning models.
Develop code to handle model retraining, data handling (e.g., database) and data retrieval.
Develop a solver to run machine learning models for optimization.
Apply learnings and best practices to PCG business units.
Adhere to quality and safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
