About the role: The Technician will provide key contributions to the Color QC Lab in the area of color matching in established coatings platforms according to established procedures. The position can require interface and coordination with other laboratories, manufacturing and, on occasion, customers.

What you’ll do:

• Match and approve colors in established coatings platforms, as required. This entails assessing color positions of on-test batches and providing adjustments, as needed, to hit the established targets
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Research and Development staff on issues that occur during Mixing and Application.
• Help identify and develop appropriate instrumental techniques to aid color development, color matching efficiency, QC control, and customer compliance.
• Participate in continuous improvement of department knowledge and operational efficiency.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Apply in-process coatings to test panels

What skills and experience you’ll need:

• This position requires the ability to visually discern differences in color
• The ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematical skills is required
• This position exists inside a manufacturing lab environment, so the ability to spend much of your shift on your feet and to occasionally lift materials up to 40 pounds is required.
• Basic computer skills are required
• High school diploma or equivalent GED is required
• Prior experience in a lab environment is preferred
• Prior experience in color matching is a differentiator
• Prior experience as a color matcher and/or technician in a coatings manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Equivalent practical knowledge of coatings, aerosol technology, or other, appropriate discipline preferred
