Job summary

Amcor LLC in Evansville, IN, is seeking a color development professional to ensure color quality across formulations, maintain data color software, and administer logbooks for color requests and reformulations. The role involves testing raw materials, coordinating with pigment vendors, and supporting cross‑functional teams to resolve color issues.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for personal adherence to Safety, GMP, Food Safety and Plant Policies.
  • Complete a minimum of 1 Observation and 1 Near miss audits per month.
  • Observe safety precautions, GMPs and plant rules to prevent injury and loss of material or damage to equipment.
  • Learn directing, training, cross training, motivating and evaluating staff per company policies and safety requirements.
  • Assist in maintain and update logbooks with customer name, matches, chips requested, dates, and J# references.
  • Maintain and update logbooks for reformulations, new J#s, Lab/BL# logs, color match logs, and reformulation logs.
  • Maintain color chip files and supply Quality with standard chips; assist in Data Color software set up for colors and raw materials.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheet database with new color info; update pricing sheets and FDA letters of compliance.
  • Test new raw materials, work with pigment vendors, and update price quote calculator; troubleshoot color issues and participate in improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to resolve color issues and ensure proper resin types are used.

Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Accountable for personal adherence to all applicable Safety, GMP, Food Safety, and Plant Policies.
  2. Complete a minimum of 1 Observation and 1 Near miss audits per month.
  3. Observe all Safety precautions, GMP’s and Plant rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment.
  4. Learn directing, training, cross training, motivating and evaluating staff to ensure they are an effective team and they are following company policies, including safety requirements.
  5. Assist in maintain and update logbook on all requests, with customer name, number of matches, number of chips requested, what is being requested, date submitted, date finished, date approved, who did the request, and if needed new J#.
  6. Maintain and update logbook on reformulations for customers needing them due to material shortages. The old J# with the new J#.
  7. Maintain and update card file with new J#’s.
  8. Maintain and update Lab/BL# logbook.
  9. Maintain and update color match logbook.
  10. Maintain and update reformulation logbook.
  11. Maintain color chip files and supply Quality with standard chips as needed.
  12. Assist in set up new colors in our Data Color software.
  13. Assist in set up new raw materials into the Data Color software.
  14. Maintain and update Safety Data Sheet database with new color info.
  15. Maintain and update Pricing sheets for our customers at other Berry locations.
  16. Maintain and update FDA letters of compliance for customers.
  17. Maintain and update Technical Data sheet information.
  18. Test new raw materials that we may use, or need to use, due to obsolete raw materials.
  19. Work with pigment vendors on bringing in new raw materials, also when looking for replacement raw materials.
  20. Maintain and update our price quote calculator with current prices of raw materials.
  21. Trouble shoot problem colors by adjusting the formulations.
  22. Work on projects with special teams: PCRs, colors needing special effects, etc.
  23. Work with multiple teams to resolve color issues.
  24. Check pigments and concentrates and correct them if/as needed before they go to production.
  25. Participate in safety meetings each week for the department and help maintain log of topics covered as well as reporting attendance to EHS.
  26. Work as backup to multiple other positions for vacations and time off.
  27. Perform melt tests as needed.
  28. Communicates and works with other departments on their color concerns.
  29. Work with other Amcor facilities to satisfy their color needs.
  30. Working knowledge of different resin types used in colors.
  31. Responsible for developing dispositions for all color concerns.
  32. Promote and enforce a clean and organized work environment guided by the 5s principle.
  33. Understand problem solving and escalation process.
  34. Lead and participate in improvements and initiatives.
  35. Support ongoing improvement activities.
  36. Perform any other duties assigned.
