Job summary

M&J Auto Body Services in Van Nuys, CA, is seeking a Collision Repair Estimator to join our family-owned shop.

This full-time role offers $65,000–$90,000 per year, plus $18–$22/hr and monthly commissions ($3,000–$4,000). You will assess damage, prepare detailed estimates, coordinate with insurers, and guide customers through repairs.

Two years of estimator experience, knowledge of CCC One or Mitchell, and bilingual English/Spanish are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as Auto Body Estimator or similar role in a shop.
• Fluent English; Spanish a plus.
• Knowledge of repair processes, parts identification, and cost calculation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged vehicles to evaluate repair scope and costs.
• Prepare detailed repair estimates (labor, parts, materials) and coordinate with insurers.
• Explain estimates to customers and support a positive repair experience.
• Collaborate with technicians to verify repair feasibility and adjust estimates.

Job description

M&J Auto Body Services, located in Van Nuys, CA, is seeking a motivated and experienced Collision Repair Estimator to join our team. We are a family-owned business offering state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology to deliver the highest quality collision repair services. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week).

Salary: Competitive, based on experience ($65,000 - $90,000 annually,18 to 22 per hour plus eligibility for commission incentives expected to range from 3000 to 4000 per month)

Key Responsibilities

• Thoroughly inspect damaged vehicles to evaluate the extent of bodywork, interior, and mechanical damage, determining costs for repairs or replacements
• Prepare detailed repair estimates, including labor, parts, and materials, while coordinating with insurance companies
• Provide excellent customer service by explaining estimates, answering questions, and ensuring a positive repair experience
• Collaborate with technicians to verify repair feasibility and adjust estimates as needed

• Proven experience (2+ years) as an Auto Body Estimator, Collision Estimator, or similar role in a body shop environment
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is an asset
• Strong knowledge of automotive repair processes, including damage assessment, parts identification, and cost calculation
• Familiarity with estimating software (CCC One, Mitchell) and industry standards
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask, manage several jobs at once
• Attention to detail/Quick learner/Positive can do attitude
• Working with direct repair programs, DRP is preferred
• Certification (e.g., I-CAR or ASE) is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
