Job summary

Group 1 Automotive, Inc. is seeking an experienced Collision Estimator at the Group 1 Chevrolet Spring location in Houston. The role focuses on accurate damage assessment, transparent communication with customers and insurers, and delivering high-quality repairs.

The candidate will inspect vehicles, estimate repair costs, and guide customers through the repair process while supporting a fast-paced, high-volume collision center.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of collision estimator experience.
• Proficient with CSI reporting documents.
• Direct Repair Program (DRP) experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office: Email, Excel and Word.
• Ability to work independently in a process-driven environment.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers and collects vehicle information, scheduling appointments.
• Builds relationships with customers, insurance companies, and co-workers.
• Explains work orders clearly and documents customer requests.
• Inspects vehicles for structural, exterior, interior, and mechanical damage.
• Calculates labor and parts costs and salvage value estimates.
• Reviews repair vs. replacement costs with the customer.
• Determines costs for repainting or customization.
• Completes insurance claim forms with estimates and recommendations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Overview

Group 1 Chevrolet Spring is growing and looking to add an experienced Collision Estimator to support our fast-paced, high-volume collision center.

The ideal candidate will bring strong estimating experience, insurance coordination knowledge, and a customer-focused approach to delivering a high-quality repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers upon arrival as well as communicate with them on the telephone providing information, scheduling appointments and collecting customer vehicle information.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, insurance companies and co-workers.
• Listens to customer requests and completes a proper, clear explanation on the work order.
• Thoroughly checks the customers' vehicles to determine all damage to the vehicle include structural, exterior and interior damage, overall body and mechanical issues.
• Calculates the estimated cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each affected item on the vehicle as well as the estimate for the salvage value of the total vehicle.
• Review with the customer the cost effectiveness of repair versus replacement of parts.
• Determine costs associated with repainting or other applicable customizing that may be required.
• Proper completion of insurance claim forms to indicate repair or replacement cost estimates and specific recommendations.
• Other duties may be assigned by management
• Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Company's Values in all interactions with customers, co-workers and vendors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Collision Estimator experience is required
• Must have current CSI reporting documents
• DRP (Direct Repair Program) Experience
• Proficient at operating a personal computer including Microsoft Office: E-mail, Excel and Word
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
• Valid driver license in the state that you will work and a good driving record
• Great attitude with high-energy personality
• Excellent customer service skills
• Professional appearance and work ethic
• Ability to work well in a process driven environment
• Outstanding communication skills in both verbal and written
