Job summary

Diehl Collision of Butler, part of Diehl Automotive, seeks an experienced Collision Estimator to join our Butler, PA team. You will inspect vehicles, write accurate estimates, work with insurance companies, and coordinate with customers and shop staff to ensure smooth repairs.

The ideal candidate has collision estimating experience, knowledge of repair procedures, and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Experience writing accurate collision repair estimates.
• Experience with insurance estimating and adjusters.
• Knowledge of automotive collision repair procedures.
• Understanding of vehicle construction and labor operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple repairs and customers.
• Professional customer-service demeanor.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Experience with collision estimating and shop management software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and accurately assess collision and body damage.
• Prepare detailed estimates for parts, labor, paint, materials, and necessary repairs.
• Write and update collision repair estimates and supplements.
• Work directly with customers throughout the repair process.
• Communicate with insurance adjusters and insurance companies regarding estimates, supplements, approvals, and repair procedures.
• Review OEM repair procedures and identify required operations.
• Document vehicle damage with photographs and supporting information.
• Coordinate with technicians, painters, parts personnel, and production staff.
• Monitor repairs and help keep customers informed of vehicle status.
• Identify additional or hidden damage discovered during disassembly.
• Prepare supplemental estimates when additional repairs are required.
• Verify that estimates accurately reflect the work necessary to return vehicles to pre-accident condition.
• Maintain accurate customer, vehicle, insurance, and repair documentation.
• Help ensure a smooth repair process from initial estimate through vehicle delivery.
• Provide outstanding customer service during what can be a stressful experience for vehicle owners.
