Job summary

Denison University in Granville, OH seeks an entry‑level Assistant Fencing Coach to support the Head Coach by managing administrative and athletic functions, coaching, training, and developing players, recruiting prospective student‑athletes, coordinating visits and travel, and promoting the team and university.

Candidates may specialize in foil or epee (preference for epee) and will lead drills, oversee the weapon squad, run footwork and bouting games, review video, and travel to tournaments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Driver’s license required.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• Entry-level position; no prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach with practice and match planning.
• Develop training sessions for athletes and provide feedback and direction.
• Analyze future opponents, review film, and create scouting reports.
• Create drills, footwork, and bouting games for the weapon squad.
• Attend practice and work closely with the weapon squad.
• Give lessons to members of the weapon squad during and after practice.
• Travel to tournaments and other competitions.
• Reinforce team and university rules and expectations.
