Daley College

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.

The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) is a federally-funded financial aid program that provides subsidized part-time employment for eligible students to assist with postsecondary financial needs. CCC complies with the Department of Education’s regulations regarding the FWS program, allowing students to benefit from this opportunity.

The FWS program encourages students to gain experience in their prospective fields by placing them in areas and departments aligned with their area of study whenever possible. Students can use their wages towards educational and living expenses.

FWS jobs are available in academic departments, laboratories, libraries, administrative offices, student centers, and off-campus locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the supervisor by representing CCC to prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Provide transfer mentorship to up to 25 enrolled students.
  • Guide students to CCC resources such as College Advisors, Transfer Center, DAC, Tutoring, Wellness, etc.
  • Answer questions about student life at City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Share information about university partnerships and enrollment processes.
  • Encourage participation in transfer and university partner events.
  • Support on-campus transfer activities and events.
  • Copy materials for transfer fairs, workshops, and conferences.
  • Create a positive experience for transfer students.
  • Attend required training sessions.
  • Follow City Colleges of Chicago Customer Service Standards.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years old, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Be actively enrolled at a City College of Chicago institution.
  • Enroll in at least 11 semester hours with a minimum of 15 credits completed.
  • Pursue an approved educational degree.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA (waived for first-semester students).
  • Be in good academic standing with no restrictions.
  • Not be a current employee of City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Positions are at-will employment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or actively pursuing a GED at City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Represent CCC positively and professionally.
  • Adhere to Customer Service Standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills, positive attitude, self-motivated.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, customer service, communication, attention to detail, and data entry.
