McHenry County College is seeking a Library Assistant to foster a welcoming environment for library users. The role involves maintaining library operations, assisting patrons, and providing support with technology. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and experience in a library setting, with bilingual skills being a plus.
Workweek
Scheduled hours between 8am - 9pm, Monday - Friday with occasional weekend hours as needed. Schedule will be determined by supervisor to meet department needs. Department needs shift based on the academic semester and intersessions. This position will be primarily scheduled for evening hours.
Position SummaryThe Library Assistant works collaboratively with the library team to foster a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all library users and ensures users receive friendly and efficient service. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations in the library which includes maintaining the space, supporting students, community members, and employees, circulating materials, managing study spaces, and opening, and closing the Learning Commons. This position will oversee the circulation of items which include books, equipment, resources, and technology. This position is responsible for the management, advertisement, and circulation of items loaned out by the library. This position will assist users with technology used in the Learning Commons.This role will work closely with the library team to collect information, analyze, and make changes to the resources and services offered.
