The Mentor demonstrates an overall commitment to the policies and procedures of the New Jersey GEAR UP/College Bound program and supports participants through mentoring, tutoring, workshops, and field trips to encourage academic achievement and college readiness.

This part-time, year-round role requires regular meetings with mentees, and collaboration with counselors to develop and complete Personal Education Plans, while fostering personal growth and college readiness.

Formación

• Completion of the equivalent coursework of a college sophomore (24 credits) and current enrollment in good academic standing, or graduation from an accredited college or university.

Responsabilidades

• Participate in mentor training and provide mentoring support to encourage higher education pursuits.
• Meet regularly with assigned participants according to the work schedule.
• Assist mentees in developing personal, academic, and life skills.
• Help mentees set realistic academic and career goals and monitor progress.
• Assist counselors in completing and reviewing each participant's Personal Education Plan (PEP).
• Attend field trips and program-sponsored activities and conduct life skills workshops.
