Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is seeking full-time educators to teach English core skills to small groups, aiming for long-term understanding and top college readiness scores. You will track growth across a multi-phase curriculum and mentor students through the college application process.

The ideal candidate has a humanities degree from US schools, teaching experience in English or college writing centers, strong English proficiency, and excellent organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in humanities from US schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.)
• Teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center (1+ years)
• Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
• Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction
• Hours of Operations: Mondays and Fridays closed; Tuesdays–Thursdays 1:30 pm CST to 9:30 pm CST; Saturdays–Sundays 9:30 am CST to 5:30 pm CST

Responsibilities

• Teach and inspire in small groups to promote long-term understanding of topics and top scores in ACT & SAT
• Track students’ progress through Vanguard’s curriculum with individualized growth opportunities
• Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold students accountable for assignments, and communicate professionally
• Spearhead the development and execution of evolving lesson plans and curriculum
• Mentor middle and high school students through the college application process
