Job summary

Class 101 is seeking an Academic College Planning Advisor to empower students and families in Springfield, MO. You will meet with students to guide them through the college search, admissions, and financial aid process using Class 101 curriculum.

You will motivate students, help with essay writing, meet deadlines, and coordinate with families while delivering a proven classroom program for up to 20 students.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights/weekends.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, particularly with teenagers.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience leading a classroom setting for up to 20 students.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort with technology including web browsers and MS Office apps.
  • Experience with social media and social media marketing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective meetings with students to educate and empower them on how to navigate the college process using Class 101 curriculum.
  • Encourage, motivate and keep students on track as they progress through the college admissions process.
  • Serve as a reliable source for students and families.
  • Meet deadlines for submitting applications.
  • Guide students through the essay writing process to create and refine main, supplemental, honors, and scholarship essays.

Academic College Planning Advisor Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering effective meetings with students to educate and empower them on how to navigate the college process using Class 101 curriculum.
  • Encouraging, motivating and keeping students on track as they progress through the college admissions process.
  • Serving as a reliable source for students and families
  • Meeting deadlines for submitting applications

Skills And Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in an applicable field of study, including business, education, and social sciences, or equivalent related career experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, particularly with teenagers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to learn and execute a proven system
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with and a willingness to lead a classroom setting, facilitating classroom learning for up to 20 students
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful applicant will be comfortable using technology. At a minimum the applicant should be adept using web browsers and MS Office suite applications, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint
  • Experience with social media and social media marketing is a plus
