The College Admissions Specialist (CAS) plays a critical role in creating a welcoming, accessible, and coordinated One Front Door enrollment experience for prospective and newly admitted students. Reporting to the Senior Director of Enrollment Strategy & Services, the College Admissions Specialist serves as an initial point of contact and enrollment navigator for individuals exploring Curriculum, Continuing Education, and College & Career Readiness opportunities at Davidson-Davie Community College.

College Admissions Specialists engage, support, and communicate with students throughout the inquiry, application, admission, and enrollment process. The position provides general enrollment information, assists students with completing required processes, identifies barriers that may prevent students from moving forward, and connects students to the appropriate College department through timely and effective warm handoffs.

Key responsibilities include providing exemplary customer service; explaining College enrollment procedures and services; supporting students through the North Carolina Residency Determination Service process; processing admissions applications and enrollment documents; providing technical assistance with enrollment-related systems; and documenting student interactions and progress in the College’s customer relationship management system.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintain current knowledge of the College’s enrollment processes, programs, services, and student pathways, including Curriculum, Continuing Education, and College & Career Readiness opportunities.
  • Serve as a One Front Door enrollment resource by helping prospective and newly admitted students understand their options, identify the appropriate pathway, and determine their next steps.
  • Provide accurate general information regarding admissions, financial aid, residency determination, student records, registration, orientation, academic programs, continuing education offerings, and available student support services.
  • Assist students with accessing and completing the College’s One Application and other enrollment-related forms and processes.
  • Support Continuing Education and College & Career Readiness students who enter through an approved Fast Track process without requiring them to return to the One Application unnecessarily.
  • Collect, review, process, and accurately enter student applications, transcripts, test scores, residency information, and other enrollment documents in the appropriate College systems.
  • Review applications and enrollment records for completeness, identify missing information or barriers, communicate required next steps to students, and elevate complex issues to the appropriate department.
  • Assist students in navigating the North Carolina Residency Determination Service process while referring residency classifications, appeals, and other specialized matters to the appropriate resource.
  • Provide technical assistance to students using enrollment-related technology, including the College application, student portals, document-upload tools, and other approved systems.
  • Use Slate and other College systems to document student interactions, update records, track enrollment progress, communicate next steps, and support coordinated outreach.
  • In partnership with the Senior Director, Assistant Director, and other designated staff, identify needed updates to Slate communications, forms, workflows, student records, and enrollment resources.
  • Communicate with students through appropriate channels at targeted stages of the enrollment cycle and provide timely follow-up to help students move from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Provide warm handoffs to College departments by explaining the referral, connecting the student to the appropriate office or individual, and documenting the interaction when appropriate.
  • Monitor and respond to assigned admissions email accounts and communication queues, including inquiries related to transcripts, test scores, application errors, missing documents, and enrollment next steps.
  • Support enrollment services projects, student outreach campaigns, recruitment and onboarding activities, and other initiatives designed to increase student access, enrollment, and persistence.
  • Provide cross-functional support to the Contact Center and other One Front Door service areas as assigned.
  • Deliver responsive, welcoming, student-centered service through in-person, telephone, email, text, virtual, and other approved communication methods.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, accuracy, integrity, and security of student information and records in accordance with FERPA, College policies, and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing cross-training and professional development to maintain consistent knowledge across enrollment pathways, systems, procedures, and student services.
  • Identify recurring student questions, enrollment barriers, and process concerns and share observations with leadership to support continuous improvement of the One Front Door experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission, vision, values, and enrollment goals of Davidson-Davie Community College.
