Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Project Advisor to help high school students in the Los Angeles area graduate and pursue post-secondary education. You will coordinate tutoring, college and career advising, and monitor academic progress to boost graduation rates.

On-site duties include recruiting and advising students, planning college visits, developing curriculum, coordinating tutors, and maintaining student records. Experience in education preferred; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience or personal experience in an educational setting, TRIO or Upward Bound program.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select, enroll, and advise students at an assigned High School; conduct outreach to students and community.
• Provide participants at the target school with academic advising and planning, career awareness and assessment, post-secondary option information and application assistance.
• Develop curriculum and conduct workshops/seminars on college and career planning, financial literacy and personal development.
• Coordinate tutorial services available at the target school and community; supervise tutors and advisors.
• Plan and supervise college visits and other educational group activities; ensure safety of all participants.

Education
