St. Michael’s Prep in Austin, TX seeks an experienced Director of College and Academic Counseling to lead the college and academic advising program for 9th–12th grade students.

The role begins in the spring of 8th grade with a cohort-looping model, reporting to the Head of Upper School, and is a full-time, 12‑month, in‑person position. The Director will coordinate PSAT/AP testing, college visits, and scholarship tracking while staying current with admissions trends and professional associations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
• 3–5 years in college counseling or college admissions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational ability and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Educate students and families about colleges and admissions trends.
• Lead a college counseling program and oversee advising for 9th–12th grade.
• Coordinate campus visits by college reps and meetings with admissions offices.
• Write letters of recommendation and present information sessions for families.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions and testing trends.
