Job summary

BECU is seeking a Collections Specialist I to support member financial well-being by navigating challenges and applying empathetic, compliant collection techniques. You will handle a variety of account types, document interactions, and coordinate with teammates for complex cases, while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

The role emphasizes outbound/inbound liaison with members, adherence to regulations, and a commitment to minimizing losses while preserving a positive member experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in collections, financial institution contact center, or retail banking.
• Strong verbal and written communication with members.
• Ability to speak persuasively and listen critically.
• Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Maintains confidentiality and uses sound judgment in problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Drive Compliance & Accountability in all responsibilities while delivering quality member experience.
• Meet delinquency and recovery objectives via outbound/inbound dialer activities.
• Analyze member accounts and determine next steps to reduce delinquency and financial loss.
• Locate updated member contact information when needed.
• Update member records accurately and completely.
• Record meaningful member interactions and payment arrangements in the system.
• Take on additional duties as needed to support team success and evolving priorities.
