Interval builds AI-powered collections for home service businesses, utility companies, and anyone who has past due invoices. We work with hundreds of clients nationwide, handling everything from early-stage recovery to late-stage collections through our own agency. Our approach is simple: get people to pay without damaging the relationship between a business and its customers.
About the Role
We're hiring our first in-house collector for our Third Party Collections Agency. You'll work past-due accounts, negotiate payments, and help shape how Interval collects as we grow.
This role is a fit for two kinds of people:
- Salespeople ready for a change. If you're an SDR or in phone sales, you already have the skills that matter: you're comfortable on the phone, you handle rejection well, and you hit your numbers. We'll train you on compliance and collections.
- Experienced collectors who want a say. If you've spent years working with tools and processes you couldn't change, this is your chance to help build them.
Why This Role Is Different
- We build the software you'll use. Our engineers work alongside you. If something slows you down, tell us, and it can get fixed fast.
- AI handles the high-volume work. Reminders, first touches, and outreach are automated, so you can focus on the conversations that need a real person.
- You're the first one. How you work becomes the playbook for every collector we hire next.
- Proven product, early-stage team. Hundreds of clients already use Interval. You're joining to help us scale.
Responsibilities
- Contact customers about past-due residential and commercial accounts
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements
- Explain balances and terms clearly, and resolve billing issues with client teams
- Document all interactions accurately in our system
- Follow FDCPA and state compliance requirements on every account
- Give regular feedback on our AI outreach, workflows, and tools
What We're Looking For
- Comfortable on the phone and calm during tough conversations
- Respectful and empathetic, while still able to ask for payment
- Motivated by clear goals and measurable results
- Serious about following rules and regulations
- Comfortable using a CRM or collections software
- Wants to fix broken processes, not just work around them
Preferred
- Experience in collections, sales/SDR, a call center, or financial services
- Experience with home service, utility, or consumer accounts
