The Milwaukee Public Museum is seeking two limited-term, part-time Collections Move Technicians to support moving its 4 million-object collection. Work within the Cultural Science department with possible tasks across anthropology, history, and archival collections; some offsite work may occur.
Schedule is Monday–Thursday, 8:30–3:30, for about 1 year with potential extension. Undergraduate or graduate degree in Museum Studies (in-progress acceptable) and prior museum collections experience

Salary Range: $15.45 Hourly
MPM is seeking 2 limited term, part-time Collections Move Technicians to support the museum’s goal of moving its 4 million object collection to a new building. The technician will operate within the museum’s Cultural Science department, with possible work in the anthropology, history, and archival collections. The Technician will work collaboratively under the supervision of the museum’s collections move project manager. Projects may include work with ethnographic or archaeological material, textiles, firearms, decorative arts, furniture, fine art, photographs, and other objects of an anthropological or historical nature.
While most of the work will be done at MPM, some work may be done at an offsite storage locationor at the site of the new museum.
This position will require consistent standing, bending, and lifting throughout the day and tasks that require repetitive movements forlong periodsof time.
The schedule for the position is Monday through Thursday from 8:30 – 3:30, and the position will run for approximately 1 year with the possibility for extension.
Education and/or Experience:
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Museum Studies or a related field (complete or in-progress), along with past experience with museum collections. A documented history of collections experience may be substituted for a formal degree.
