Job summary

The Milwaukee Public Museum is seeking two temporary, part-time Collections Move Technicians to support moving a 4 million object collection to a new building. Work closely with the Collections Move team, mostly on-site, with potential off-site tasks and collaboration with contractors and conservators.

Ideal candidates will have museum collections experience, comfort with standing and lifting, and the ability to operate EMu and Excel for record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Museum Studies or a related field (complete or in-progress).
• Experience with museum collections is preferred; writing condition reports and object photography experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and move museum objects.
• Deinstall exhibits and pack/unpack objects for display.
• Assist with conservation, storage, or shipping mounts as needed.
• Create digital records from transcription data into spreadsheets.
• Construct packing materials and crates as required.
• Operate within the museum's collections database EMu.
