Local Government Federal Credit Union seeks a Collections Specialist to proactively manage delinquent accounts, contact members, and develop repayment plans to mitigate losses while upholding member trust. The role requires operating across core systems, documenting all interactions, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

The position is hybrid with quarterly onsite attendance at Wake Forest Road in Raleigh, NC.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of consumer loan collections experience.
• Understanding of accounting principles, financial statements and tax returns.
• Knowledge of analyzing personal tax returns, financial statements and credit reports.
• Experience with credit procedures, regulations and laws, including bankruptcy and consumer law.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Hybrid capacity with quarterly onsite attendance at Wake Forest Road, Raleigh.
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts 8:30 am–7:00 pm, with overtime, weekend and holiday support as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Contact members regarding loans in default via phone, email, and text.
• Provide primary support for delinquency and loss management call efforts.
• Proactively contact members to discuss accounts and delinquency causes.
• Develop repayment plans, loan modifications, or other solutions to bring accounts current.
• Document all interactions and actions in the core collection system.
• Maintain call volume and quality aligned with KPI goals.
• Collaborate with internal units to coordinate loss prevention.
• Review delinquency trends and recovery efforts with Loss Mitigation management.
