Job summary

NYC Department of Finance is seeking an Administrative Staff Analyst to support the Data Analytics & Debt Segmentation Unit in Collections. The role focuses on developing dashboards, monitoring collections performance, and delivering data-driven insights to improve agent performance and collections outcomes.

The candidate will work under the Unit Head of Collections, collaborating with System Modernization and IT teams, and may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, public health, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a JD from an accredited law school with two years of professional experience.
• Bachelor's degree with four years of professional experience in budget/financial administration, accounting, economic research or related fields including 18 months in supervisory capacity.
• Associate degree and six years of professional experience with similar scope, including 18 months in supervisory capacity.
• High school diploma and eight years of professional experience per above.
• Combination of education and/or experience substituting for the above with at least two years in related work and high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Develop reports and dashboards to identify opportunities and provide insights.
• Use statistical tools to produce ad hoc reports to monitor collections performance and identify risks and opportunities.
• Leverage multiple databases to create reports offering actionable insights to improve agents’ performance, including performance, KPI, and debt-type reporting.
• Collaborate with System Modernization and FIT teams using data extraction and summarization to support decision making and identify debt-treatment improvements.
• Monitor operational KPIs to ensure execution consistency and advise management on improvements to profitability.
• Create reporting to assess performance and quantify benefits of collections initiatives and root-cause analysis for inventory fluctuations.
