Position Overview
Support commercial collections and accounts receivable for large, high-profile customers in a high-volume call center environment. This role focuses on identifying and resolving billing issues and other obstacles that prevent payment, rather than providing payment services. Customer accounts may be valued at approximately $1 million; payment delays often involve billing questions or unresolved issues rather than financial hardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle inbound and outbound customer calls throughout the workday, with the majority of calls being inbound.
- Investigate outstanding balances, identify reasons for delayed payment, and work with customers toward a payment, promise to pay, or resolution.
- Navigate eight separate billing systems and multiple software platforms to research accounts and resolve billing concerns.
- Manage a high-volume workload, with approximately 50–100 calls per day and typical calls lasting 8–10 minutes.
- Communicate regularly with teammates and the direct supervisor through Microsoft Teams, including face-to-face virtual interactions.
- Participate in supervisor coaching and call evaluations to support service quality and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Previous collections experience is preferred, but candidates without collections experience may be considered.
- Previous experience working in a virtual environment is helpful.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to investigate billing concerns and guide customers toward resolution.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems while managing customer calls.
- Comfort working in a phone-focused, highly measurable call center environment.
- Ability to stay focused, adhere to a set schedule, and communicate proactively with the supervisor and team.
Training & Work Schedule
- Training lasts 2–4 weeks and runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for both shifts.
- After training, representatives move to either the 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. shift or the 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. shift.
- The daily schedule includes two 15-minute breaks, a one-hour lunch, and coaching with the direct supervisor.
- The role requires facilitating customer calls throughout the day.
Performance Expectations
Performance is measured through a KPI scorecard, with emphasis on:
- Schedule adherence: Starting work on time and maintaining expected time spent working.
- Conversion rate: Converting customer interactions into a promise to pay, payment, or resolution.
- Quality assurance: Meeting call-quality goals through recorded-call reviews and supervisor feedback. Representatives also listen to reviewed calls.
The team operates on a fiscal-month cycle described as the 22nd through the 20th. The treatment of the 21st should be confirmed before publication.
