Job summary

Renewyx is seeking a Preconstruction Manager for its growing cold storage division. You will own preconstruction end to end on technically demanding, high-stakes builds, lead cost estimating, and shape proposals across design phases for nationwide projects.

The role requires experience estimating for a GC, design-build, and bid management, with familiarity in refrigeration and insulated panel systems. Hybrid base; Chicago preferred, with other cities considered.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating construction projects for a general contractor.
• Design-build experience with strong VE instincts.
• Experience with bid packages, RFPs, and subcontractor negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost estimating and preconstruction strategy on cold storage projects nationwide.
• Build accurate, competitive proposals across every design phase and coordinate with clients and design teams on refrigeration decisions.
• Hand off clean, well-scoped estimates to the field team.

Pre-Construction Manager | Cold Storage | up to $180k_+ bonus

Locations: Chicago | Houston | Dallas | Atlanta | Sacramento

Renewyx are supporting a National GC's specialized cold storage and temperature-controlled division in finding a Preconstruction Manager. Their cold storage division is scaling fast, delivering refrigerated and frozen distribution centers for major food, beverage, and logistics operators across the country. You would own preconstruction end to end on technically demanding, high‑stakes builds.

Majority of projects are negotiated with only around 20% secured through bidding.

The role:

Lead cost estimating and preconstruction strategy on cold storage and temperature-controlled projects nationwide. Build accurate, competitive proposals across every phase of design, work directly with clients and design teams on refrigeration and thermal envelope decisions, and hand off clean, well-scoped estimates to the field team.

• Experience estimating construction projects for a general contractor
• Design-build experience and strong value-engineering instincts
• Comfort running bid packages, RFPs, and subcontractor negotiations end to end
• Cold storage, food and beverage, or industrial/distribution project experience
• Familiarity with refrigeration systems, insulated panel construction, or food safety compliance
• Hybrid base, Chicago preferred (Sacramento, Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta also considered)
• A national project portfolio with genuine variety and scale
• The backing of an established, growing GC platform
