Deli Star is a forward-thinking food manufacturing company based at The Star Plant in Saint Louis, MO, seeking a Materials Specialist to ensure smooth flow of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging through receiving, storage, and staging processes.

The role collaborates with Procurement, Warehouse, Logistics, and Operations to maintain accurate inventory, support production requirements, and uphold safety and quality standards across USDA/GMP-compliant environments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, materials handling, or a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Proficiency with computers and ability to learn applicable inventory and operational systems.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage changing priorities, and work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and other departments.
• Physical stamina to lift 85+ pounds and work in refrigerated environments.

Responsibilities

• Review daily production schedules and coordinate material requirements to support production readiness.
• Pick, stage, and replenish raw materials, ingredients, and packaging according to production needs.
• Communicate with Procurement, Warehouse, and production personnel regarding material availability and priorities.
• Monitor material requirements and identify potential shortages or discrepancies.
• Coordinate raw meat tempering requirements to ensure materials are available and ready for scheduled production.
• Respond to changes in production priorities and assist with material movements as needed.
• Support material coordination activities across all products and customers.
• Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and other shipments.
• Confirm received quantities and product identification against applicable receiving documentation.
• Identify damaged, incorrect, or nonconforming materials and communicate concerns to the appropriate departments.
• Complete receiving paperwork and required inventory transactions accurately.
• Maintain organized warehouse, cooler, freezer, and storage areas.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Move, store, and stage materials according to established procedures and priorities.
• Support finished goods handling, staging, and shipment verification as needed.
• Maintain accurate material movement and receiving records using Deli Server, RedZone, and other applicable systems.
• Assist with warehouse housekeeping and storage organization.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Warehouse, Logistics, Operations, and Food Safety & Quality to support daily operational requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory accuracy, organization, and operational efficiency.
