Job summary

Skana Aluminum Company is seeking a skilled Cold Mill Technician to transform aluminum coils into high-quality products. This hands-on role combines equipment operation, troubleshooting, quality control, and crew leadership to keep the mill running safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will monitor temperatures, adjust mill conditions, and safely handle coils while communicating production and quality concerns to the team and supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, technical specifications, and production paperwork.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, micrometers, and gauges.
• Ability to safely operate industrial equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Operate the rolling mill through intermediate and final passes across aluminum alloys and thicknesses.
• Process coils to meet required thickness, quality, and customer specifications.
• Adjust mill speed, tension, coolant flow, and other conditions for precise results.
• Start, operate, and monitor coils through production.
• Monitor roll and material temperatures and adjust as needed.
• Read and interpret production dispatches and sequence work.
• Monitor production and quality to keep the mill running efficiently.
• Perform roll changes from start to finish.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes for roll changes and material handling.
• Lead crew, maintain production flow, troubleshoot problems, and make real-time decisions.
