Skana Aluminum Company in Manitowoc, WI is seeking a Cold Mill Technician to help produce high-quality aluminum coils. You'll operate cold mill passes, adjust speeds, and monitor coils for consistent, defect-free production.

This hands-on role offers training through our PayForKnowledge program and a rotating shift schedule (5:45pm–6am, 2-2-3). We value reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, with a generous benefits package.

• Prior machining experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate cold mill passes across alloys and thickness ranges.
• Reduce coils to target thickness by running through the mill.
• Adjust speeds, tensions and coolant to meet specs.
• Start, run, and monitor coils for consistent quality.
• Read dispatches to ensure proper work sequencing.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and operate forklifts/cranes as needed.
• Perform roll changes and assist with other duties to keep production flowing.

Ready to build a career, not just take a job? As a Cold Mill Technician, you'll help produce some of the highest-quality aluminum coils in the Midwest and we'll pay you more as you learn more.

What You’ll Do

• Operate cold mill intermediate and final passes across various alloys and thickness ranges.
• Reduce aluminum coils to the required thickness by running them through the mill.
• Adjust mill speeds, tensions, and coolant flow to achieve precise coil specifications.
• Start, run, and monitor coils to ensure consistent quality and defect-free production.
• Evaluate roll and material temperatures to determine necessary processing adjustments.
• Reset the x-ray panel on the motor room wall as needed.
• Read and interpret dispatches to ensure proper sequencing of work.
• Replace Cold Mill Operator, Assistant, and Trucker as needed to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Perform the duties of the Cold Mill Assistant, including preparing coils for the mill.
• Perform the duties of the Trucker, including safely transporting coils to and from the mill.
• Maintain continuous mill operation to produce high-quality metal.
• Perform complete roll changes from start to finish to maintain production efficiency.
• Operate the Cardox system in case of an emergency to ensure workplace safety.
• Operate forklifts and cranes for roll changes
• Assist with other duties as directed/assigned

This is a hands-on plant role with exposure to heat, noise, moving equipment, and forklift traffic. Required PPE includes safety glasses and safety shoes (we've got you covered on both).
