Job summary

FurstStaffing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the cold heading department, improving processes and ensuring product quality on the production floor in Rockford, IL. You will collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement and address customer inquiries on new products.

The role requires fastener manufacturing experience, CAD proficiency, and strong problem-solving skills, with ISO 9001:2015 standards in scope.

Qualifications

• 2-5+ years of engineering or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment (cold heading or metal forming strongly preferred).
• Fastener manufacturing background required.
• Familiarity with cold heading machines and tooling.
• Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, SPC, and root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Degree not required; relevant work experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and improve cold heading and forming processes for efficiency and quality.
• Troubleshoot process and tooling issues on the production floor.
• Design and specify tooling and equipment for new and existing parts.
• Work with quality and production to reduce scrap and downtime.
• Analyze production data and recommend improvements.
• Assist with machine setup procedures and process documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
• Support new product development and process validation.
• Collaborate with customers and vendors on technical requirements and improvements.
