Job summary

Amsted Automotive in Taylor, MI is seeking a Header Operator to run cold formers and inspect parts to exact specs. You will set up machines, measure with precision tools, and document results in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You’ll train on first shift and transition to second shift after training; participation in a comprehensive benefits program is included, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret part drawings, prints, and layouts.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate cold formers (header) to manufacture parts to precise specifications.
• Measure and inspect parts during production using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Load material, draw material down to size, adjust tooling, verify machine settings based on production orders.
• Monitor machine operation, troubleshoot malfunctions, and perform minor maintenance.
• Read and understand tool layouts, part prints, and progression layouts.
• Collaborate with team on machine setups, tooling changes, and operational requirements.
• Position and feed wire through dies to extrude and shape stock.
• Adjust wedges and brass settings to control ram pressures and depths.
• Repair, maintain, or replace tooling when worn or broken.
• Remove tooling after production runs; use overhead crane, forklift, and hand truck as needed.
• Perform developmental setups, prototype runs, and assist with new part introductions.
• Accurately document quality data, measurements, and production records.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work environment and follow procedures.
