Job summary

Summit Employment Professionals is seeking a warehouse associate in Wichita, KS. The role involves locating material, moving inventory for processing or storage, and operating the decoil line.

You will communicate with teammates and help maintain a clean, safe warehouse while following safety and quality standards. The position requires lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and 60 pounds repeatedly, with the ability to stand for long periods.

Qualifications

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multilimbed coordination.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment.
  • Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
  • 1-2 Years of Overhead Crane Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Locate material and move inventory or equipment for processing or storage.
  • Understand the operation of the decoil line and safely run the machine.
  • Communicate with teammates and maintain warehouse upkeep.
  • Perform quality control inspections (In Process and Finished Product).
  • Report irregularities to supervisor for direction.
  • Complete work order paperwork and documentation.
  • Move material using forklift or crane between production and storage areas.
  • Tag material and ensure proper identification and documentation.
  • Operate yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane.
  • Spot check inventory and maintain tagging accuracy.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards and keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Job Summary The main responsibilities of this position are locating material, moving inventory or equipment for processing or storage, understanding the operation of the decoil line and can maintain and safely run the machine, communicating with your fellow teammates, and helping maintain the upkeep of the warehouse.

Duties
  • Understands the importance of Tolerances identified by work orders, Standard Shop Tolerances, or ASTM
  • Performs “In Process” and “Finished Product” quality control inspections.
  • Removes scrap metal and clean equipment according to designated maintenance procedures.
  • Diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
  • Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
  • Moves material from production areas to storage or other designated areas using forklift or crane.
  • Sorts and packages parts as directed.
  • Tags material for proper identification and completes all required documentation.
  • Operates yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane.
  • Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed.
  • Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

  • 1-2 Years of Overhead Crane Experience
Work environment
  • Employee is subject to temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F and below 32 degrees F
Requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License - required.

1st Shift - 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)

2nd Shift 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
