Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Coil Builder for third shift at our York, PA location. You will identify parts, assemble coils to spec, and label coils with build day and Mfg numbers while operating cranes and basic hand tools.

The role requires reading specifications, attention to safety, and accurate documentation of daily hours. The position emphasizes teamwork, training opportunities, and a strong safety culture under Johnson Controls' Zero Harm policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Read and write English.
• Knowledge of company safety policies.
• Able to read a tape measure.
• Prior machine operating experience required.

Responsibilities

• Identifies proper parts to complete assemblies by reading specification sheet.
• Assembles parts to specification.
• Builds frame; installs fins, tubes, hardware, and other purchased parts into coil body per specification.
• Correctly labels coils with build day and Mfg #.
• Moves and repositions coils to the expansion area using cranes.
• Completes appropriate paperwork including quality sticker and daily hours.
• Inspect coils for split collars, dented hairpins and damaged fins.
• Reworks or disassembles coils that have been damaged or built incorrectly.
• Utilizes basic hand tools such as pliers, wrenches and hand drills.
• Trains new or existing employees, if necessary.
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Wears all required PPE.
• Performs other routine duties.
• Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision.
• Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
• Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
