Job summary

Johnson Controls is hiring a Coil Builder for 3rd shift in York, PA. This full‑time role offers hourly pay between $22.96 and $26.44 and requires reading specifications, assembling coils, labeling coils with build day and manufacturer number, and following safety rules.

You will use basic hand tools, operate cranes, inspect coils for defects, complete daily paperwork, and help maintain a clean, safe work area while supporting the company’s mission to deliver safer, smarter buildings worldwide.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Read and write English.
  • Able to read Tape measure.
  • Prior Machine Operating experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies proper parts to complete assemblies by reading specification sheet.
  • Assembles parts to specification; builds frame; installs fins, tubes, hardware, and other parts.
  • Labels coils with build day and Mfg #; moves coils using cranes.
  • Inspects coils for defects; reworks or disassembles as needed.
  • Cleans work area and uses PPE; reports injuries and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains daily paperwork including quality sticker and hours.

Coil Builder, 1st Shift. Location: York, PA. Shift: 3rd Shift. Full‑time Pay: $22.96 - $26.44

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identifies proper parts to complete assemblies by reading specification sheet.
  • Assembles parts to specification.
  • Builds frame; installs fins, tubes, hardware, and other purchased parts into coil body per specification
  • Correctly labels coils with build day and Mfg #.
  • Moves and repositions coils to the expansion area using cranes.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork to include quality sticker and daily hours.
  • Inspect coils for split collars, dented hairpins and damaged fins.
  • Reworks or disassembles coils that have been damaged or built incorrectly.
  • Utilizes basic hand tools such as pliers, wrenches and hand drills.
  • Trains new or existing employees, if necessary.
  • Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Wears all required PPE.
  • Performs other routine duties.
  • Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision.
  • Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
  • Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
MATH ABILITY
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education preferred
  • Read and write English
  • Knowledge of company safety policies
  • Able to read Tape measure
  • Prior Machine Operating experience
