Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks an individual to assist in Research Operations as a Cognizant Space Manager for NSLS-II laboratories and gas handling systems on NSLS-II beamlines. You will coordinate operations, safety training, and equipment scheduling; review experimental setups; ensure proper approvals, and maintain inventory and compliance with ES&H procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or closely related field of study.
• Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and technicians.
• Ability to wear a respirator when working with special gases.
• Experience with hazardous properties and safe handling of chemicals and chemical processing.

Responsibilities

• Provide operations support, oversight, testing, and scheduling maintenance for NSLS-II laboratories and gas handling systems.
• Act as liaison between NSLS-II stakeholders to ensure safe operations of gas handling systems and laboratories.
• Procure gases, chemicals, materials, and equipment for gas handling systems and laboratories.
• Maintain and manage research equipment and daily operations in the laboratories.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements and proper training for all laboratory users.
