Job summary

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) invites motivated college students or recent graduates to join its internship program. Interns support Cognitive Warfare Project research, collect and analyze OSINT, and help synthesize findings for policy discussions.

Qualifications

• Interest in cognitive and information warfare; AI and IT; international affairs or propaganda and media studies.
• Interest in national security or regional studies (Russia, Ukraine, Europe, or China).
• Prefer strong language capabilities in Russian, Ukrainian, or Mandarin.
• Experience with primary-source research in foreign languages is a plus.
• Experience with data visualization, large data sets, AI, and data management systems is a plus.
• Excellent writing, editing, research, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to conduct complex tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Self-motivated, independent, creative, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to ISW's mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Support the Cognitive Warfare Project OSINT collection, analysis, and synthesis.
• Process and analyze OSINT related to adversary cognitive campaigns.
• Assist with long-term research assignments and collaborate with software partners.
• Learn to analyze the cognitive domain and its impact on policymaking and strategy.
