As a coffeehouse concepts design manager on the Art & Storytelling team, you will support and evolve the Starbucks brand with creative strategy, visual expression, narrative ability and great interpersonal skills. You will collaborate with both internal and external partners across a wide variety of expertise and skillsets, owning and managing projects to completion.

As a coffeehouse concepts design manager, you will…

  • Create scalable, customer- and partner-focused art solutions that balance brand experience, operational needs, and business objectives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Design, Construction, Store Development, Format Development, and external artists and fabricators to deliver high-impact programs.
  • Develop art concepts, prototypes, and pilot programs informed by consumer insights, industry trends, and Starbucks brand standards.
  • Curate and co-manage art and environmental design programs, including artist partnerships, commissioned works, installations, and occasionally, digital experiences.
  • Oversee program operations, including budgets, contracts, asset management, documentation, and continuous process improvement.
  • Lead complex stakeholder relationships, negotiations, and project execution to ensure quality, consistency, schedule, safety, and risk management objectives are achieved.
  • Champion creativity, sustainability, inclusion, and innovation while advancing enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
We’d love to hear from people with:
  • 5+ years of professional level experience in art curation and presentation (including detailed framing knowledge), environmental (physical space) design that includes both 2D and 3D applications, at an in-house creative department, retail company, creative agency, museum, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience with production and logistics: retouching, fabrication, prototyping, specifying, sourcing, contracting, invoicing, on-site installations and activations
  • 5+ years commissioning and directing artwork, illustration, and/or photography
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Revit, SketchUp, and other design visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated experience applying strategic insights and cultural trends to drive creative work.
  • Strong project management, communication, presentation, and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Working knowledge of design principles, materials, space planning, accessibility standards, and construction processes.

For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
