Job Summary

The Coding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing coding operations and workflows across vendor-supported markets. This role ensures accurate, compliant coding and documentation practices through proactive issue resolution, provider education, audit review, and process optimization. The Coding Supervisor will collaborate closely with vendor partners, providers, and leadership to improve revenue cycle performance and documentation integrity.

Qualifications
Education Required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical Coding Certification (CCS or CPC)
Licenses/Certifications Required
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Work Experience Required
  • 5+ years of Evaluation and Management Profee Coding experience
  • 1+ years of managing/supervising coding staff
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of federal coding regulations and guidelines
  • Proficiency in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR); eClinicalWorks or Epic preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee coding operations across vendor-supported markets.
  • Lead and manage the Request for Information (RFI) process.
  • Analyze RFI, coding, and documentation trends; provide actionable insights and collaborate with revenue cycle leadership.
  • Implement Coding process enhancements and vendor-supported market workflow improvements.
  • Provide ongoing leadership through performance management, coaching, feedback, and career development to build a highly engaged and high-performing team.
  • Develop a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement that enables the team to deliver meaningful business impact while maintaining a highly collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and accountability in daily operations and deliverables.
  • Partner with Provider Education and Revenue Cycle leadership to identify documentation improvement opportunities.
  • Investigate and resolve coding discrepancies, audit findings, and vendor-related issues; collaborate with Revenue Cycle leadership to ensure alignment and accuracy.
  • Review internal and external coding audits to ensure accuracy; implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable (AR) and coding teams to identify denial trends, support root cause analysis, and implement solutions to reduce future denials.
  • Oversee processes related to missing documentation and reports, ensuring timely follow-up and submission to support coding and billing workflows.
  • Monitor EMR-specific trends, including volume fluctuations and documentation patterns, and provide recommendations to optimize workflow and performance.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to providers and leadership on documentation quality, coding accuracy, and compliance standards.
  • Stay current with coding updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices through continuing education, training, and professional development.
  • Ensure all activities remain compliant with HIPAA and organizational policies; promptly elevate any compliance concerns or irregularities.
  • Support and contribute to revenue cycle performance initiatives by providing coding expertise, operational insight, and leadership recommendations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

Physical Requirements
  • Office Environment: Tasks may be conducted within a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Physical Activity: The role may require the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials, supplies, and equipment (up to 10 lbs.), duties typically involve a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, with frequent changes in position.
  • Travel: Travel may be required, including travel between Company locations and out-of-town destinations as needed. Up to 10%.

Base Salary Range

Base Salary Range: $66,500/annually to $91,430/annually The range above reflects the good-faith compensation range the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, education, geographic location, and other business-related factors. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
