Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Coding Educator to monitor and validate hospital coding and educate staff on improvement areas. The Educator will support CDI with documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance across acute care coding. Expect to develop policies, audit processes, and training programs.

The role involves analyzing audit data, creating education plans, and mentoring staff to ensure DRG/APC accuracy and high-quality coding services. DE-based, hospital setting, full-time.

Qualifications

• RHIA or RHIT or equivalent certification/degree.
• CCS (Certified Coding Specialist - AHIMA).
• ICD-10 trainer through AHIMA preferred.
• CDIP or CCDS preferred.
• College credits in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Two years auditing experience required, preferably in an acute care teaching hospital.
• Four years Coding/DRG experience required, preferably in an acute care teaching hospital.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts audits and reports on documentation, coding and billing.
• Develops and delivers training programs and educational materials.
• Provides written audit guidance and participates in external audit review follow-ups.
• Analyzes data trends and supports coding management in DRG/APC performance.
• Validates ICD-CM/ICD-PCS/CPT and HCPCS coding accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Mentors new staff and supports coding management with education initiatives.
