Job summary

The City of Bath is seeking an experienced Codes Enforcement Officer to join the Planning and Development Team. This role oversees permitting, plan review, inspections and code enforcement across the city, and also serves as Health Officer and ADA Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will have code enforcement, building inspection or related field experience, Maine or ICC certifications preferred, and the ability to obtain State Code Enforcement Officer certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Experience in code enforcement, building inspection, construction, land use, public administration or related field.
• State of Maine or ICC certifications preferred; able to obtain State Code Enforcement Officer certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee permitting, plan review, inspections and code enforcement citywide.
• Serve as Health Officer and ADA Coordinator for the City of Bath.
• Supervise the Assistant Codes Enforcement Officer and a shared Administrative Assistant.
• Collaborate with property owners, contractors, developers, businesses, elected officials and community partners.
