Job summary

Northside Hospital seeks a skilled Coder II to review patient medical records, apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding guidelines, and assign accurate codes in a timely manner.

Under supervision of the HIS OP Coding Reimbursement/Coordination, you will ensure compliance with coding regulations, support revenue cycle processes, and maintain high-quality standard turnaround times.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in acute healthcare coding preferred.
• Credentialing required: CCS/COC/CCS-P/CPC/RHIT/RHIA.
• Ability to apply ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS codes accurately.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign ICD-CM, PCS and CPT codes accurately and timely.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the HIS OP Coding Reimbursement/Coordination, the Coder II is responsible for reviewing the medical record in its entirety, apply coding guidelines and regulations and assign ICD-CM and/or PCS and CPT diagnoses and procedures codes accurately and timely. Consistently meet/exceed turnaround times and quality expectations.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• 1. High School diploma or equivalent required Minimum one years’ experience in acute healthcare setting, preferred.
• 2. Coding credentials, i.e. CCS, COC, CCS-P, CPC, RHIT, and RHIA required. 3. Working knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle functions, including documentation, coding and billing guidelines preferred.
• 3. Ability to accurately apply ICD-10 diagnosis, procedures and CPT/HCPCs procedure codes preferred. Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pharmacology required.
• 4. Ability to use computers effectively. Excellent communication skills, including written and oral, teaching and presentation skills required.
• 5. Knowledge of EMR (Cerner, EPIC) Knowledge or various encoders (Optum, Clintegrity, Compliance 360 and 3M), to include knowledge of CAC system.

PREFERRED:

• 1. Credentials from AHIMA or AAPC Three + years coding experience in multispecialty Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in Acute Care, CPT-ICD-10-CM codes.
• 2. Previous experience with compliance software.
• 3. Previous imaging system and/or HBOC products. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY THE STATE OF GEORGIA
