Job description

Join to apply for the Coder I role at Fresenius Medical Care.

The Coder performs data entry processing within assigned functions. Responsibilities include applying diagnostic and procedural codes to patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. The role also involves providing administrative support in data interpretation and explanation for internal and external customers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Under close supervision, acquire job skills and learn company policies to complete routine tasks.
  2. Work on routine assignments with limited judgment; errors are minor and quickly corrected.
  3. Receive detailed instructions on all work and refer to senior staff for assistance as needed.
  4. Escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
  5. Under general supervision, assign diagnostic and/or procedural codes to patient documents.
  6. Research and resolve coding issues, communicating with cross-divisional teams or vendors.
  7. Administer physician quality reporting initiatives to maximize incentive payments.
  8. Generate and distribute routine management reports.
  9. Collaborate with cross-divisional teams to meet shared goals within deadlines.
  10. Assist with various projects as assigned.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities may focus on specific departments or locations as per departmental addendum.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Education:

High School Diploma required.

Experience and Skills:
  • 0-1 years related experience.
