Job summary

City of Freeport Texas is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain the golf course and surrounding landscape. You will operate tractors, mowers and related equipment and perform routine maintenance to keep greens, tees and fairways in good condition.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with a High School diploma or GED, valid Texas driver's license, and the ability to work 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The role requires physical stamina and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred; some college preferred.
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.

• Regular and timely attendance at work is required.
• Operates mowers and string trimmers used in maintaining the grounds.

• Maintain fuel and fluids in all equipment daily and report problems or failures to supervisor immediately.
• Keep all equipment and tools clean.
• Water and fertilize tees, greens, and fairways and landscape areas under supervision.

EDUCATION

JOB SUMMARY

Performs routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance, landscape area and construction/maintenance work. Operates large equipment such as tractors, mowers and loaders.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have dependable transportation to and from work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to the outdoors, in dry, hot, cold, wet, and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
• The employee in this position will be required to remain available for immediate call-in due to any natural or manmade disaster, or any other event the Golf Course Director and/or the City Manager deem necessary.

OTHER DUTIES

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to type, write, handle, drive, or feel: reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Mental: Must maintain the ability to work well with others as well as the general public in a variety of situations. Must b e able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve, and prioritize. Must also be able to maintain confidentiality and resolve conflicts. This position requires the ability to make independent and sound judgments.
