Job summary

The City of Smyrna is seeking a capable code enforcement professional to interpret and enforce city codes and ordinances. You will patrol areas, identify violations, and coordinate with property owners and businesses to achieve compliance.

Responsibilities include handling investigations, maintaining documentation, and assisting in Environmental Court proceedings. The role requires strong communication and the ability to testify when needed, with a focus on safety and community standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• GA Code Enforcement Master Certificate preferred or obtainable.
• International Property Maintenance certifications preferred or obtainable.
• Experience in enforcing city codes and ordinances is required.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, explains, and enforces city codes and ordinances.
• Patrols the city to identify potential code violations and ensures property maintenance.
• Responds to and investigates complaints of code violations and licensing issues.
• Maintains records and collects photographic/video evidence.
• Assist in processing violations through Environmental Court and testify as needed.
• Complete work logs and regular reports.
