Job summary

The City of Norcross, GA is seeking a full-time Code Enforcement Officer in the Public Safety Department to enforce city codes and zoning ordinances through inspections across the city. The role involves responding to violations, issuing citations, and ensuring corrective action.

The incumbent conducts investigations, utilizes GIS and city records, and coordinates with other departments. A high school diploma and valid GA driver’s license are required; bilingual ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years in code enforcement or related work with investigations and dispute resolution.
• Fluent in Spanish or Korean (not required).
• Valid Georgia driver’s license or ability to obtain one; clean MVR.
• Must pass Drug and Alcohol Screening.
• Overtime/weekends/holidays/shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Proactively patrols city to detect code violations (signs, nuisances, buildings).
• Investigates citizen complaints and determines validity of violations.
• Issues citations and advises on corrections; tracks remediation.
• Performs inspections using GIS and city records; documents findings.
• Maintains case information in the database and status reports.
• Monitors enforcement of environmental, nuisance, tax and licensing rules.
• Coordinates with Community Development and other departments as needed.
• Handles follow-up observations to ensure violations are corrected.
