Job summary

The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Code Enforcement Inspector - Damage Prevention position. The selected candidate will ensure preventative measures are taken to avoid utility damage by excavators and homeowners in compliance with Virginia state law.

This is achieved by being a proactive presence at planned third party excavation jobsites. Responsibilities include inspecting excavator worksites around RGW facilities, reporting

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Five years of underground utility locating experience required.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitor facility locating in advance of excavation to prevent or minimize damage.
• Inspect excavator sites near RGW facilities.
• Convey damage prevention requirements to excavators and report conditions found.
• Perform damage investigations including reproducing locator events.
• Complete accurate daily reports of worksites visited and activities.
• Perform administrative tasks and related duties as assigned, including training.
