Job summary

The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities is seeking a Code Enforcement Inspector - Damage Prevention. You will monitor facility locating to prevent damage, inspect excavation sites near RGW facilities, and enforce Virginia state laws at third‑party job sites.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and five years of underground utility locating experience, plus a valid Virginia driver's license and OQ qualification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is the minimum education requirement.
• Five years of underground utility locating experience is required.
• An equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitor facility locating in advance of excavation to prevent or minimize damage.
• Inspect excavator sites around RGW facilities and convey damage prevention requirements.
• Perform damage investigations and reproduce locator events when required.
• Complete accurate daily reports of worksites visited and communicate with excavators.
