Job summary

The Town of Orono Office of Community Development is seeking a full-time Code Enforcement Officer. This role will educate and enforce compliance with zoning laws, building codes, and town ordinances while coordinating with regulators, contractors, and the public.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, technical writing, and customer service skills, plus knowledge of MS4 stormwater programs and building trades. Certification is preferred, with ongoing education encouraged.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of municipal zoning, shoreland zoning, and stormwater management within an MS4 community.
• Experience in building/construction trades.
• Certification as CEO and LPI preferred; CEU in Maine codes encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Educate and ensure compliance with State laws, Town Ordinances, permits and professional codes.
• Work both in the field and in the office.
• Collaborate with regulators, contractors and the public to promote safety and compliance.
