Job summary

The Town of Orono is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to inform and enforce compliance with State laws, town ordinances, permits and professional codes. The role requires collaboration with regulators, contractors, and the public, handling both field and office duties.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of municipal zoning, shoreland zoning, and stormwater management, plus construction trades experience; preferred certifications include CEO and LPI with ongoing education in national and local

Qualifications

Working knowledge of municipal zoning and shoreland zoning.
Experience with stormwater management in MS4 communities; building/construction trades experience.
Preferred: CEO and LPI certifications with ongoing education in building and energy codes, NFPA Life Safety Code.

Responsibilities

Educate and ensure compliance with State laws, Town ordinances, permits and professional codes.
Work independently and with the Town team, regulators, contractors and the public.
Perform field and office work under the Director of the Office of Community Development.
