Job summary

Delaware County, Ohio is seeking a Plans Examiner to review construction documents for compliance with County and State of Ohio building codes. You will provide guidance to staff, contractors, and the public and report to the Chief Building Official.

The role requires a Level 4 Ohio CE certification and the ability to obtain LVL/RLC within 12 months, plus a valid driver\'s license. You will interpret codes, read blueprints, and coordinate with inspectors to ensure accurate plan reviews and

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of County and State of Ohio building codes and ability to interpret code requirements.
• Knowledge of structural engineering principles, construction methods, materials and terminology.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents.
• Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to define problems and evaluate information.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews construction documents for code compliance prior to plan approval.
• Addresses questions related to code compliance via phone and in person.
• Researches code-related questions and provides responses to customers.
• Supports building regulations programs by coordinating with local agencies and public relations duties.
• Devises correspondence, completes forms and develops reports for Building Safety operation.
• Issues plan approvals or identifies deficiencies and communicates corrections to applicants.
