Job summary

City of North Miami is seeking an experienced professional to manage the Code Compliance division, developing and supervising programs to enforce city codes and ordinances. The role requires extensive public contact and independent judgment to design effective procedures.

You will supervise officers and clerical staff, coordinate with the Special Master and Code Enforcement Board, review reports, prepare cases, and assist in policy development and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with major coursework in city planning, public administration, business administration or related field.
• Minimum of three years' experience as a Code Compliance Officer.
• Extensive knowledge of city and state codes, ordinances and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate Code Compliance Officers and clerical staff.
• Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
• Review and edit reports written by Code Compliance Officers.
• Prepare cases for action by the Special Master and Code Enforcement Board.
• Maintain records, reports, and correspondence on inspection and compliance work.
• Assist in budget preparation and justification.
• Investigate complaints of nuisances and violations.
