The City of Burien is seeking a Code Compliance Officer for a limited-term position through the remainder of 2026, with expected continuation as a regular position in 2027. Under general supervision, the officer investigates and resolves city code violations related to building construction, zoning, land use, and nuisance abatement, performing both office and field work.

Qualificações

• Two years of college or technical school in criminal justice, administration, construction, building code, public health, planning/zoning, land use regulations, or related areas.
• Three years of experience in public facing work within code enforcement, inspection, planning/zoning, investigation, land use, law enforcement, customer service or related areas.

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with departments to improve code enforcement processes.
• Inspect business premises and enforce city license requirements.
• Coordinate warranted abatements and site cleanups.
• Coordinate inspections or site visits with owners, tenants, other Departments, Organizations, and Governmental entities.
• Gather evidence for enforcement action including site visits, photographs, and records research.
• Inform owners of legal processes and options under the code to resolve violations.
• Prepare reports and maintain enforcement files and case records for litigation or hearings.
• Testify in court and at administrative proceedings.
