Job summary

City of North Miami Beach is seeking a full-time Code Enforcement Inspector to interpret and enforce adopted codes and related regulations. The role works under the Building & Code Compliance Manager and involves evenings or weekends as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of related experience. Valid driver's license required. Candidates must be able to analyze complex situations, prepare reports, and testify in court when necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related inspection, law enforcement, or public admin experience.
• Valid State driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Knowledge of code enforcement principles and related laws.
• Ability to operate computers and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect assigned area for code violations.
• Respond to complaints about code-related matters.
• Conduct field investigations and issue warnings or citations.
• Meet with owners, contractors, and developers to explain code requirements.
• Draft notices, reports, and correspondence related to code enforcement.
• Coordinate with police, planning, and other departments.
• Prepare case reports for court action and testify as needed.
